Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is bedding provided?
A: We provide sheets, blankets, bedspreads, towels and washcloths.
Q: Can I bring my own food?
A: While we provide meals, guests often like to bring snacks. If you do bring food, please
keep it in a secure place. There are refrigerators in all lodge for storage. Please do not
store food in the cabins or leave it out where insects and rodents can't to it. We
have kept the rodent and insect problem to a minimum by not giving them a food source.
Q: Where do I park my car?
A: There are three parking areas to use depending on where your activities are and what
is available. Parking Lot A is just north of Madson Lodge. If that one fills, overflow
parking is avialable on the upper field near the entrance. Finally, there is a lot near South
Lodge that is used for some events by South Lodge guests.
Q: What happens if there is a problem with my vehicle?
A: Placards are provided to put in your front windshield so that we can identify and find
you should there be a problem with your vehicle.
Q: Are pets allowed?
A: No. There are several kennels locally that can take them if you'd like your animals
close.
Q: How can my family find me in the event of an emergency.
A: Emergency calls can be taken at the main camp number.
Q: What kind of shopping is nearby?
A: Albertsons 3 miles, Fred Meyer 4 miles, Downtown Port Orchard restaurants
waterfront and antiques 6 miles. Hardware, crafts etc. also available.
Q: How far is it to:
A: Tacoma - 21 miles, Bremerton - 12 miles, Seattle 45 miles (by road), 21 miles by boat.
Q: How far is the ferry and how long does it take to get there?
A: Fauntleroy / Vashon / Southworth, 12 miles allow 20 minutes travel time.
A: Bremerton / Seattle 15 miles, allow 35 minutes travel time.
Q: Are there fish in the lake?
A: Yes, Bluegill and Bass, plus stocked trout. Please put them back when you are done
catching them. Thank you. (a.k.a. Catch and Release)
Q: What about boating and swimming?
A: Boating. We have 6 canoes and 1 kayak, please use a life jacket. This activity is at
your own risk and an adult must be present.
A: Swimming. There is a swim beach and a swim dock. Swimming is at your own risk as
there is no lifeguard on duty unless otherwise noted at your particular camp. (There is a
lifeguard for all PNC UCC summer camps.)
