Environmental Sustainability
To date, we have begun composting usable kitchen waste and recycling paper, plastic, metal,
and glass by the truckload, which has dramatically reduced our garbage output. We are
further reducing our waste by implementing ecologically sound purchasing practices in the
kitchen -- specifically, buying bulk rather than individually wrapped items in order to cut down
on packaging. We are also in the process of reducing our use of chemicals, replacing them
with natural cleaning supplies.
We continue to research better, more environmentally friendly practices for the day to day tasks
of running a conference center. Our goal is to do every thing possible in these areas to make
us a standard-setting example of good earth stewardship.
Returning to nature has been one of our goals for several years now. To that end, we are
reducing the use of fences, replacing them with natural vegetation wherever possible. We are
also concentrating our efforts on removing invasive and non-native plants from the site.
